A verdict has been passed in Kostanay in a case involving the sale of narcotic drugs through social networks. The total turnover exceeded 100 million tenge.
According to the press service of the Kostanay region courts, a group of individuals organised the Telegram drug shop "Thс Seller", through which more than 2,000 clients purchased drugs.
The criminals cashed out the proceeds through bank cards issued to front persons (money mules). During a search, law enforcement officers seized cannabis and hashish with a total weight of over 30 kg.
The court found the defendants guilty and sentenced them to 8 years' imprisonment. In addition, two cars that had been purchased with criminal proceeds were confiscated. The number of convicted individuals was not disclosed.
It will be recalled that a Kazakh citizen convicted of drug trafficking was previously extradited from Russia. It was reported that he, as part of a group, sold narcotic drugs on an especially large scale in the territory of Pavlodar. The man was detained while transporting 66 kg of cannabis and 8 kg of hashish for further sale.
