On 24 December, an oil and gas production operator died at the «Severnye Buzachi» field in the Mangistau region.
According to Lada.kz, the head of the regional state labour inspectorate, Nurali Baulybayev, commented on the tragedy.
«An accident occurred at well NB-10107-4H of the Severnye Buzachi field involving a 4th-grade oil and gas production operator, Dosan Akhmetov, born in 1988. Based on GPS data, at 09:53 he arrived at the site to carry out a patrol. At 11:15, he was found lifeless near a working oil pumpjack. On the morning of 25 December 2024, the accident investigation commission visited the scene of the incident», said Nurali Baulybayev.
Baulybayev noted that at the field, an inspection of the scene, an external inspection of the equipment on site, a test run of the oil pumpjack, and an examination of the surrounding area were carried out.
«Four witnesses who were nearby at the time of the incident were interviewed. Their statements have been recorded in the investigation report. The technical documentation for the oil pumpjack has been reviewed. The causes of the incident are being clarified», concluded Nurali Baulybayev.
Following the tragedy, the deceased's colleagues recorded a video in which they expressed doubts about the employer adequately ensuring all safety conditions at the workplace. They are demanding a meeting with the general director of the company «Buzachi Operating».
«We, the collective of workers at the Severnye Buzachi field, express deep concern regarding the tragic accident that took the life of our colleague. He was a father of three children; the eldest is ill, and the youngest is only one year old. This loss has deeply shocked and shaken us all, because each of us works daily at hazardous sites, putting ourselves at risk to carry out our job duties, to fulfil the targets set by the employer. We are not just workers, but heads of families, breadwinners upon whom the well-being of our loved ones and families depends. We cannot remain indifferent when safety in the workplace is called into question. We demand a meeting with the general director of the company 'Buzachi Operating' to discuss the causes of the incident and to develop the necessary measures to ensure safe working conditions», the video states.
It will be recalled that in September, «Buzachi Neft» LLP was fined nearly 2.3 billion tenge for a fire at the «Karaturun Yuzhny» field in the Mangistau region.
