In the Karatobe district of the West Kazakhstan Region (WKR), a tender for holding an Elderly Persons' Day event sparked public outcry due to the wording in the documents. On the official government procurement website, the festive event, worth 1.1 million tenge, was listed as "old men's day".

According to Tengrinews.kz, the customer was the Garifolla Kurmangaliev District Leisure Centre under the district akimat's culture department. The organiser is listed as the acting director, Tanat Zhexenbayev. He, apparently, approved the documentation in the form in which it was published.
The procurement description contained an additional wording stating that 1 October marks International Day of Older Persons, yet the main title appeared incorrect and raised questions.
Costs for decoration, invitations, and refreshments are expected to be covered from the budget. The bulk of the amount — 750,000 tenge — was allocated for gifts for the event participants.
The winner of the tender was IP "Bereke". According to the protocol, seven companies took part in the competition, offering their services at lower prices — from 470,000 to 980,000 tenge.
