The number of dead domestic birds in the Pavlodar region has reached almost 2,300 birds, according to the regional veterinary department.
According to media reports, from 3 September to 8 October, cases of illness and death were registered in 44 private households across eight settlements — in the Terenkol, Aktogay, Shcherbaktinsky, Zhelezinsky and Irtysh districts.
The number of dead birds in recent days has increased from 1,713 to 2,256 birds.
The veterinary service carries out daily inspections of households, provides treatment and records sick birds, and disposes of dead animals.
As clarified by the department, materials have been sent to the National Reference Centre for Veterinary Medicine for laboratory testing for highly pathogenic avian influenza, Newcastle disease, pasteurellosis and salmonellosis.
According to preliminary data, specialists have not ruled out the infectious nature of the outbreak. Final test results are expected in the coming days.
