As of today, there are 82,951 civil servants in Kazakhstan.

This was reported by the media, citing the Deputy Chairman of the Agency for Civil Service Affairs, Saluat Muksimov

Meanwhile, the Telegram channel "They're Already on Their Way for Us" writes that, in accordance with the President's instruction, their number was supposed to be reduced by a quarter by 2024.

"Starting from 2020, we will begin a gradual reduction in the number of civil servants, and we will direct the freed-up funds towards material incentives for the most useful workers. By 2024, the number of civil servants and employees of national companies should be reduced by 25 percent", the head of state said in 2019.

As journalists report, citing the Agency for Civil Service Affairs, in 2020 there were 89,000 civil servants.

"This year, taking into account the reduction, their number should have been around 67,000 people. It turns out that a reduction did occur, but not by 25 percent, but by less than 7 percent. Perhaps the staff of national companies was significantly reduced - but we couldn't find statistics on that here", the message states.

Recall that earlier, Finance Minister Madi Takiev stated that over 1 trillion tenge is spent annually on civil servant salaries.
