MVD of Kazakhstan has identified 158 drug-related offences in the first ten days of February

Since the beginning of February, the police have intensified their fight against drug trafficking. In ten days, operatives recorded dozens of cases of the sale and storage of banned substances, and also shut down illegal production facilities. 

WHAT OFFENCES WERE IDENTIFIED

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Committee for Combating Drug Crime, together with regional units, identified 158 drug-related offences, reports Polisia.kz.

Of these:

  • 91 — criminal misdemeanours;
  • 68 — crimes.

During this period, 48 cases of drug sales were stopped, as well as 6 cases of possession in especially large quantities.

SEIZURE OF SUBSTANCES

Security forces reported the closure of two drug laboratories. In addition, one case of drug smuggling and one case of organising a criminal drug group were recorded.

The following were seized from illegal circulation:

  • 1.7 tonnes of precursors;
  • almost 20 kg of drugs,
  • including 15 kg of cannabis group substances and more than 2 kg of synthetic substances.

PREVENTION AMONG YOUNG PEOPLE

The department pays particular attention to preventing the involvement of teenagers in the drug environment.

Over the ten-day period, 430 preventive meetings were held, attended by over 20,000 schoolchildren and students.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs stated that work to ensure the safety of citizens and combat illegal drug trafficking continues on a systematic basis.
