The Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Nurzhan Nurzhigitov denies reports that his son's wedding took place during the floods.
According to media reports, he claims that “on the president’s instructions, he has been in the flood-affected regions from the very first days, and all planned family events have been cancelled”.
Earlier, journalists reported that the Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation recently held a “kyz uzatu” – a ceremony bidding farewell to a bride as she joins her new family. It was also said at the time that the wedding had been scheduled for 26 April.
Meanwhile, in late March 2024, Minister Nurzhan Nurzhigitov received a severe reprimand over the floods. At the time, he stated that he had no intention of resigning.
