Lawyer Talgat Yesimov complained about gross violations of lawyers' rights at remand prison No. 76 in Kostanay.
On his Instagram page, Yesimov reported that before meeting with a client, lawyers are required to take off their trousers.
"There is no such disgrace at other remand prisons in the country. They also demand that you open mechanical watches. Although there is a memorandum between the CEP (Committee of the Penal Enforcement System) and the Republican Bar Association stating that lawyers may use mechanical watches. But taking off trousers is a new level of lawless actions by employees of the DPES (Department of the Penal Enforcement System) of Kostanay.", the statement reads.
In his opinion, such actions equate lawyers to detainees. Meanwhile, his colleague Viktor Krivonosov commented on the situation.
"Why did I come today dressed like this? Why am I wearing tracksuit bottoms, you see? For the first time in my entire career as a lawyer, which spans about 30 years, I came in tracksuit bottoms. I came in tracksuit bottoms because yesterday they told me <...> I am at work, I am ashamed to come to work in these. I was forced to come in tracksuit bottoms to avoid the humiliating procedure of taking off my trousers, but I did not avoid it. They started searching even more thoroughly," said Krivonosov.
