Talks were held at the Akorda between President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and the King of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein, who arrived in Kazakhstan on an official visit.
The sides discussed prospects for expanding trade and economic partnership with the aim of increasing trade turnover to $500 million, as well as strengthening cooperation in the fields of energy, transport, and cultural ties. The meeting culminated in the awarding of Jordan's highest order, 'Al-Nahda', to the Kazakh leader and the signing of intergovernmental agreements.

The official welcoming ceremony at the residence of the Head of State was held in accordance with all protocol procedures. After the introduction of the delegations, the playing of the national anthems, and the welcome report of the guard of honour, the leaders of the two countries began their talks in a restricted format.
President Tokayev thanked the Jordanian monarch for accepting the invitation to visit Astana and warmly recalled his own visit to Amman earlier this year.
"Cooperation between Jordan and Kazakhstan is developing very successfully, but we have a number of interesting topics to discuss," noted the Kazakh leader, emphasising Abdullah II's deep understanding of the current international situation.
King Abdullah II, addressing Tokayev as his "dear brother", expressed sincere gratitude for the warm welcome.
"Kazakhstan is very close to my heart. Every time I come here, I admire how, under your leadership, the country is progressing towards prosperity," stated the Jordanian monarch, confirming his readiness to deepen mutually beneficial cooperation.
During the expanded talks involving the official delegations, the sides identified specific areas of partnership. Kazakhstan proposed expanding exports to the Jordanian market by supplying 60 types of non-commodity goods worth $250 million. Particular attention was paid to cooperation between Kazatomprom and the Jordanian Uranium Mining Company in the nuclear industry.
President Tokayev presented Kazakh initiatives for developing the international transport and logistics network, proposing the joint development of intermodal transport between Central Asia and the Middle East. The Jordanian side shared its experience in medicine, pharmaceuticals, the halal industry, and the defence sector. The airline Royal Jordanian plans to launch direct flights between Amman and Almaty next year.
The heads of state emphasised the importance of cultural and humanitarian ties, including the implementation of joint research projects and the establishment of partnerships between universities. The Kazakh leader noted that the two countries are united by common centuries-old values: religion, traditions of tolerance, and mutual respect.
The culmination of the visit was the presentation to President Tokayev of the highest order of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, 'Al-Nahda'. King Abdullah II highlighted the significant personal contribution of the Kazakh leader to strengthening friendship between the countries. Tokayev expressed sincere gratitude, calling the award a symbol of the close and trusting relations between the states.
The official visit of King Abdullah II to Kazakhstan demonstrated the high level of mutual trust and the readiness of the two countries for strategic partnership. The areas of cooperation identified during the talks — from trade and economic ties to cultural exchange — create a solid foundation for long-term interaction. The brotherly relations between the leaders and the signed agreements open a new chapter in Kazakh-Jordanian cooperation, contributing not only to bilateral development but also to regional stability.
