The FBRK editorial team continues its column on which preparations are used for treatment to protect against leaf-chewing and sucking pests in the regions of Kazakhstan, and what impact they may have on living organisms, including humans.
Previously, we have already written about what they are continuing to poison the residents of Astana, Uralsk, Atyrau, as well as East Kazakhstan Region and Pavlodar Region. In this part, we will tell you about which preparations are used to control ladybirds in the forests of Kyzylorda Region.
We sent an official request regarding the disinsection being carried out to the Akimat of Kyzylorda Region, but the akimat subsequently, for unknown reasons, redirected it to the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Regulation of the region. Consequently, we were provided with information on the treatment of green spaces within the territory of the forest fund.
As noted by the department, work began on 22 April on treating the green spaces of the forest fund, namely the treatment of saxaul damaged by gall midges. The preparations 'Cruiser' and 'Clorid' are used for the treatment. The disinsection is carried out using funds from the republican budget.
_____________
For reference: Gall midges are a type of insect that can be found on oak, maple, common hazel, ash, and other trees.
The active ingredient of the preparations 'Cruiser' and 'Clorid' is 'Imidacloprid', the toxicity of which we have already written about previously.
Let us remind you:
- 'Imidacloprid' belongs to the class of neonicotinoids, which in their action are similar to nicotine and have a detrimental effect on various organs and tissues, most significantly on the liver and kidneys.
'Imidacloprid' is characterised by high persistence in soil: the half-life process takes up to 100 days. When absorbed by plants, 'Imidacloprid' breaks down within 2-3 weeks. The substance is moderately toxic to warm-blooded animals and humans, highly toxic to birds, and lethal to bees.
It is noted that 'Imidacloprid' is poorly soluble as a seed treatment when combating insects in the early stages of their development; therefore, it is necessary to consider that the preparation should be used when the soil is well moistened.
Let us recall that last year in Kyzylorda, when combating aphids, they used the preparation 'Danadim Expert', which contains the substance 'Diomethoate', also known as 'BI-58'.
We noted at the time that, of all regions, Kyzylorda became a 'leader in the poisoning of living organisms', as 'Dimethoate' is classified among substances extremely toxic to all representatives of fauna, insects, birds, fish, and humans.
The FBRK editorial team reminds local executive bodies once again that substances permitted for use in agriculture are extremely dangerous when used in an urban environment.
We also again appeal to the akimats with a request to warn city residents about the potential danger of the preparations being used, and we strongly recommend informing the population about precautionary measures during the period of disinsection.
To be continued…
