Pleadings have begun at the Aktobe city court in the case of healer Sulushash Kazbayeva, accused of fraud. According to the prosecution, 136 people were affected by her actions, with total damages amounting to 579 million tenge.

As reported by Kazinform International News Agency, the woman convinced citizens seeking her help to take out loans allegedly for the construction of a mosque in the village of Akkol, Aitekebi District, the construction of a banquet hall, treatment for her daughter in Turkey, as well as opening a private clinic and developing a business.

Initially, the number of victims was 90 people, but during the proceedings several more citizens joined the case.

The victims took out loans ranging from 1 to 24 million tenge and continue to repay them independently.

Kazbayeva did not admit guilt, claiming that the money was given to her voluntarily. However, during four months of judicial investigation, the defendant was unable to explain where the funds were directed.

"She refused to answer questions regarding these amounts. At present, it is unknown where almost 579 million tenge have actually gone," the prosecutor stated.

The state prosecution has requested a sentence of 6 years and 8 months of imprisonment for Sulushash Kazbayeva, as well as compensation for damages to the victims. The court pleadings continue.
