Has the Anti-Corruption Service taken an interest in the agricultural experimental station in Karabalyk?

Submitted by Вера Александрова on

In the Karabalyk Agricultural Experimental Station (AES), inspection measures are being carried out, likely linked to corruption risks

According to information from public figure Kirill Pavlov, representatives of law enforcement agencies visited the institution.

It is reported that the station’s employees were shown a video recording, supposedly related to a contentious procurement process for spare parts. According to available data, the organisation’s chief accountant and economist have been detained

The journalist notes that shortly before the described events, staff changes occurred at the AES — a new director and chief economist were appointed.

“It is noteworthy that the AES recently changed its director. And the chief economist, to whom questions arose”, wrote Kirill Pavlov on Telegram.

The Karabalyk AES, located in the Kostanay region, is known for its achievements in plant breeding and record crop yields. It is one of the country’s leading scientific organisations, engaged in developing and introducing new varieties of agricultural crops, particularly grains and legumes.

The station is part of the National Agrarian Scientific and Educational Centre (NASEC), which, in turn, is a subordinate organisation of the Ministry of Agriculture. No official comments from NASEC regarding this situation have been received so far.

The editorial team at FBRK will continue to monitor developments.
