The Interdistrict Criminal Court of Astana has heard the case of a local resident accused of fraud.
According to the press service of the department, the defendant defrauded three victims of 38.6 million tenge. She misled them by promising to assist in purchasing apartments below market value in the BI City Tokyo residential complex in Astana and the 4you residential complex in Almaty.
The defendant pleaded guilty and expressed remorse. The court found her guilty and sentenced her to 6 years and 8 months in prison. The victims' civil claims were satisfied.
Recall that in July in Aktau, fraudsters were convicted who posed as intermediaries selling confiscated cars and property.
They rented several properties. Claiming they were confiscated assets, they moved potential buyers in. They took the money upfront, promising to prepare the legal documents later.
As a result of the criminal activities, 39 individuals were affected. The material damage amounted to approximately 1 billion tenge.
