Environmental prosecutors in Aktobe have identified violations in the activities of LLP «Voskhod Chrome» during the processing of chrome ore in the Khromtau district of the Aktobe region.

According to the press service of the Aktobe region prosecutor's office, throughout 2022 the enterprise operated without a mandatory environmental permit.

“Consequently, all emissions during this period – including more than 52 tonnes of pollutants released into the atmosphere (inorganic dust, trivalent chromium, magnesium oxide, and others), as well as the disposal of large-piece and slurry enrichment waste totalling 395,000 tonnes – have been deemed excessive, i.e., illegal”, the statement reads.

As a result, the environmental prosecutor's office fined the enterprise more than 2.9 billion tenge for operating without an environmental permit.

“The LLP’s administrative liability challenge was appealed through the courts. The fine was upheld as lawful by both the court of first instance and the appellate court”, the statement reads.
