In Almaty, police have completed their investigation into a criminal case initiated following complaints from citizens against the directors of an LLP.

According to the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office, the company's management did not have the requisite permits or the right to build residential complexes, nor to attract funds from equity holders.

Despite this, from 2022 to 2023, under the pretext of selling apartments in three residential complexes, the company's directors embezzled citizens' money.

312 people have been recognised as victims in the case, and the total damage exceeds 2.5 billion tenge. Four directors of the LLP have been detained and placed in custody.

"As part of the investigation, the rights of the victims have been restored, and the criminal case has been sent to court for consideration on its merits," the statement reads.

It will be recalled that in October 2024, it was reported that in the West Kazakhstan Region, fraudulent housing developers used deceptive schemes to obtain money from citizens without any intention of fulfilling their obligations. The damage from their actions amounted to 490.8 million tenge.

Later, it became known that in Astana, law enforcement officers are investigating criminal cases against 12 developers.

In November, in the Aktobe region, several developers were prosecuted. For example, the director of LLP "Andora Construction", without obtaining permission from the local executive body to attract equity holders' funds, sold apartments to 25 citizens worth 313 million tenge using fictitious contracts. Court No. 2 of Atyrau found the company director guilty and sentenced him to 5 years in prison.

In December, Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov instructed the development of a mechanism that would eliminate risks for citizens when concluding shared construction contracts.

In early January of this year, the AFM Department for the East Kazakhstan Region began a pre-trial investigation against two top managers of a construction company. They are suspected of embezzling 1.8 billion tenge under the pretext of building a multi-apartment residential complex.
