Details have emerged of the assassination attempt on the deputy akim of Shymkent, Ruslan Berdenov

As reported by journalist Mikhail Kozachkov on his Telegram channel, the person who shot Berdenov was Yernar Zhienbay — the head of LLP "Turgyn ui Shymkent", a subsidiary company of the akim's office which deals with the construction of non-residential premises.

The investigation believes that the suspect developed a grudge against Berdenov following a recent meeting where they first met.

It is reported that at this event, Zhienbay was rude to his superiors, and allegedly for this reason, the deputy akim reprimanded him, asking him to leave the meeting.

At the same time, Berdenov ordered a review of the work of LLP "Turgyn ui Shymkent" and to dismiss Zhienbay from his post.

It is noted that this was the reason for the attack. Zhienbay brought 10 rounds of ammunition with him, and was likely planning murder; however, after three shots, he was neutralised by Berdenov's driver, who hit the attacker with the car.

To recall, on 21 April, near the building of the Shymkent akimat, an armed attack was carried out on the city's deputy akim, Ruslan Berdenov. As a result of the gunfire, he sustained a gunshot wound and was hospitalised. After a four-hour operation, his condition stabilised. According to doctors, there is no threat to his life.
