The department of the Financial Monitoring Agency (FMA) of the Abay region has shut down the activities of the financial pyramid scheme "Rakhat0425".
According to the agency's press service, the organisers attracted funds from citizens by offering them a fake investment project related to public procurement.
It was noted that investors were promised dividend payments of 30%. As a result, 350 participants of the pyramid scheme invested over 790 million tenge.
Furthermore, the suspects persuaded citizens to hand over their flats at reduced prices, concluding deals with subsequent registration of the property in the names of third parties. The value of the transferred properties was assessed as a contribution to the investment project.
Two suspects have been placed in custody, while a third has been placed under house arrest as a preventive measure.
