The chief architect of Uralsk was convicted of taking a bribe of 1.5 million tenge.

In Uralsk, a sentence has been passed on the head of the city department of architecture and urban planning, Tabashenbayev A., his subordinate – the chief specialist Gatau N., and the deputy director of Alihanstroyproekt LLP, Kupbayev A.

According to the press service of the Anti-Corruption Agency, Tabashenbayev was found guilty of receiving a bribe of 1.5 million tenge from Kupbayev in exchange for approving sketch designs for the construction of low-rise buildings. He was also found guilty of abuse of official powers through the illegal allocation of a land plot without holding a tender. 

Gatau was found guilty of receiving a bribe of 500,000 tenge from Kupbayev for approving the land plot selection report. At the same time, he was convicted of abuse of official powers by illegally entering documents into the government services portal regarding the expansion of a land plot without a building being present.

As a result, Tabashenbayev and Gatau were each sentenced to 3.5 years' imprisonment. The bribe-giver was sentenced to 7 years' imprisonment.

In addition, those convicted were permanently banned from holding positions in the civil service and in subjects of the quasi-public sector.
