Cancer patients in the Akmola region were not referred for a disability assessment.

The Prosecutor's Office of the Akmola Region has identified a violation of the rights of 109 cancer patients.

According to the press service of the department, the authorised body did not refer them for a medical and social assessment to determine their disability group.

For example, one resident of Kokshetau had been registered with an oncologist since 2022. Despite this, the attending physician did not initiate the process of establishing disability, assessing the degree of loss of working capacity, or determining the necessary social protection measures for the patient.

Following the prosecutor's report, the heads of medical organisations were held to strict disciplinary accountability, and work is underway to determine the degree of disability for the cancer patients.

It is worth recalling that in September it was reported that a resident of Shymkent is suspected of collecting money under the pretext of providing assistance for the treatment of children from the Talgar District. The perpetrator used photographs of children who genuinely suffered from cancer. At the same time, he provided the details of a fraudulent bank card.
