The parties in the case regarding the recovery of the international 'Bolashak' scholarship have reconciled.
According to the press service of the Astana court, Valeriya Gavrilenko agreed to repay 28.7 million tenge, which otherwise, under the agreement, would have had to be compensated by the guarantors of her scholarship, Natalya Vorobyeva and Makpal Daribayeva.
"At the first hearing in the appellate instance, the panel explained the parties' right to settle the case amicably (via mediation), and as a result of the proceedings, with the assistance of the Astana court panel, the parties reached an agreement under which scholarship holder G. voluntarily undertook to repay the debt to the 'Bolashak' International Programs Centre," the statement says.
It is recalled that an appeal from Natalya Vorobyeva and Makpal Daribayeva to the President recently appeared online – these are the individuals who acted as guarantors for a former participant of the 'Bolashak' programme. As it became known, because the former scholarship holder Gavrilenko is not in the country, the Centre was unable to recover the debt from her. However, three years later, Bolashak presented her debt of almost 30 million tenge to the guarantors.
Later, the Centre commented on the guarantors' statement, reporting that Daribayeva and Vorobyeva, by signing the agreement, had assumed full responsibility for the fulfilment of all the scholarship holder's obligations.
