In Kostanay, a fraudster deceived trusting citizens by posing as a seller of portable saunas and pallets. The damage is estimated at 15 million tenge.
According to the press service of the Kostanay courts, the accused, from December 2020 to May 2024, placed an advertisement on the website «OLX.KZ» stating that he was engaged in the manufacture and sale of new wooden pallets, and in group chats on WhatsApp for residents of the Denisovsky, Kamystinsky, and Karasuisky districts, he placed an advertisement for the manufacture of saunas.
«Citizens, trusting B., entered into written contracts with him and transferred money to purchase the aforementioned saunas. As a result of B.'s criminal actions, material damage totalling more than 15 million tenge was caused to 24 victims», the statement reads.
The defendant pleaded guilty, sincerely repented of his actions, and asked not to be deprived of his liberty.
In turn, the victims requested that the defendant be deprived of his liberty and that their civil claims be satisfied.
As a result, the court found the accused guilty and sentenced him to 3 years and 6 months' imprisonment, to be served in a medium-security correctional facility.
The court also granted the victims' civil claims.
