A large-scale meeting of the Council under the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Regional Council for the Prevention of Drug Offences was held in Karaganda, with the participation of representatives of the Presidential Administration. The event included a series of meetings aimed at strengthening preventive work to combat drug use, with particular attention paid to work with students and young people.
Deputy Chairman of the Committee for Combating Drug Crime of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Kuandyk Alzhanov held an informational meeting with more than 180 students of the Karaganda Higher Polytechnic College. He explained to the young people how to avoid online manipulation and the serious consequences that can result from involvement in drug distribution or advertising drug websites. The presentation was accompanied by real examples of the consequences of drug offences.
"As part of the Comprehensive Plan, the Police Department of the Karaganda Region, in cooperation with other state bodies and NGOs, is constantly carrying out anti-drug measures and educational work on the dangers of drugs and the consequences of their use. Today's platform is a unique opportunity for open dialogue and exchange of experience. Joint discussion will allow us to identify effective practices and highlight problem areas," noted the First Deputy Head of the Police Department of the Karaganda Region, Police Colonel Abil Abildin.

The programme of events also included a meeting with representatives of the Family Support Centre and an extraordinary working meeting of the regional interdepartmental headquarters. The meeting was attended by the Deputy Akim of the Karaganda Region, Oraz Taurbekov, and representatives of law enforcement agencies. Participants discussed priority areas and specific measures to strengthen interdepartmental cooperation in the field of drug offence prevention.
The event was an important part of the comprehensive work of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan to create a safe and healthy environment for young people. The meeting took place on the eve of the International Day Against Drug Abuse, which is observed on 26 June. Participants also discussed the upcoming month of action against drug addiction and the activities planned within its framework.
According to the organisers, similar meetings are planned to be held in other regions of Kazakhstan as well, which highlights the systematic approach to solving the problem of drug use in the country.
