Legal proceedings have begun in Karaganda against Nurbolat Dakebayev, who assaulted an ambulance driver. The case is being considered under the article 'Hooliganism'.
However, as reported by KTK, the victim has also filed a civil lawsuit, demanding 5 million tenge from the defendant. According to the driver, he sustained more serious injuries than those determined by the forensic medical examination.
"The fact that he said on camera everywhere that he forgives him – that is his personal business, but there may be irreversible consequences for his health. Regarding Toregali, I can say straight away that a second operation for a nose resection lies ahead. That is, the blows were quite strong", said the victim's representative, Bagdat Khasenov.
It will be recalled that a video previously appeared on social media showing an unknown man aggressively expressing dissatisfaction with how the ambulance driver had parked in the courtyard, and then striking him several times.
As a result of the beating, the driver was hospitalised with a concussion, a broken nasal bridge, closed rib fractures, and a haematoma of the eye. A criminal case was promptly initiated. Law enforcement officers identified the suspect. He turned out to be 36-year-old Dakebayev Nurbolat Nurymovich.
Later, it was reported that Dakebayev had been arrested; he was detained at one of the winter camps in the Karkaraly District, 200 km from the regional centre.
On the same day, a video message spread online in which Dakebayev apologised for beating the ambulance driver. Later, the victim published a video in which he stated that he forgives his attacker.
Afterwards, it became known that the police had reclassified Dakebayev's actions as hooliganism. This was on the grounds that the forensic medical examination had allegedly determined that the victim's bodily injuries fell under the category of mild severity.
