Former head of Air Astana, Peter Foster, has taken on a new role. He has been elected as an independent director of the cargo airline Alatau Air Cargo, in which businessman Timur Turlov controls a large stake.
WHO WAS ELECTED TO THE NEW BOARD OF DIRECTORS
According to Forbes, the carrier's shareholders have decided to renew the company's board of directors. The powers of the previous board, approved on 30 January 2026, are being terminated early.
Peter Foster has been elected as an independent director. The renewed board of directors will be chaired by Timur Turlov. It also includes Erlan Koishibayev, Sergey Shvalov, Aibek Kapar, and another independent director — Sergey Anashkin.
WHAT DECISIONS DID THE SHAREHOLDERS MAKE
The decisions were made on 22 May 2026 at the general meeting of shareholders. At the same time, participants approved the renaming of the company from KTZ Air Cargo to Alatau Air Cargo. The name change took place on 10 June 2026.
Furthermore, the company changed its legal address from Astana to the Karaganda Region. The shareholders also decided to update the airline's charter.
CONTEXT
Peter Foster concluded his work as head of Air Astana on 31 March 2026 after 21 years with the company.
The new CEO is Ibrahim Janliel, who previously held the position of financial director. He has been working at Air Astana since 2003.
