The Almaty Urban Planning Control Department has reported the demolition of an unfinished multi-storey car park on al-Farabi Avenue.
According to the press service of the city akimat, in 2007, JSC «SERT» began construction of a 5-storey car park on a leased plot.
In 2009, construction was halted at the level of the first two floors. In 2015, the temporary land use right was terminated, after which specialists inspected the load-bearing and enclosing structures of the facility.
“Experts issued a conclusion on the technical condition of the main load-bearing structures; based on the inspection results, it was recommended to dismantle the existing structures,” the statement reads.
Subsequently, the department filed a lawsuit seeking the demolition of the unfinished facility. After the claims were satisfied, the authorised bodies began dismantling.
It is worth recalling that earlier, it was reported that in Almaty, construction of the problematic residential complex «Graff» had resumed despite a court ruling. It then emerged that the construction was being carried out with numerous violations.
Despite the court decision to demolish the building, the structure was not completely dismantled. Local residents, who achieved this ruling through active campaigning, fear that construction may resume.
