Tax claims of 32 billion tenge threaten farmers' sowing campaign

Submitted by Вера Александрова on

In early December 2024, the State Revenue Committee sent notices to hundreds of farms and leasing companies requiring them to rectify violations in their tax reporting.

According to Kursiv.media, the violations are related to an understatement of income tax amounting to more than 32 billion tenge.

In response, Mazhilis deputy Aidarbek Khojanazarov stated that farmers had attempted to submit explanations to regional revenue departments stating that the violations cited in the notices did not exist.

However, according to him, the authorities are refusing to accept their appeals, citing instructions from senior management. At the same time, tax officials are demanding immediate payment, threatening to block bank accounts and suspend operations.

The deputy claims that the additional tax assessments relate to transactions for the supply of equipment from abroad, for which all customs duties and fees had already been paid. It is noted that the transactions were registered with the National Bank of the Republic of Kazakhstan in compliance with export-import control requirements.

Khojanazarov appealed to Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov with a request to establish a working group to resolve the situation. He warned of the risk of mass litigation and disruption of the sowing campaign.
