Employees of the Prosecutor General’s Office have extradited a Kazakh citizen from Azerbaijan who was wanted for committing a series of particularly serious crimes, including murder and robbery.

According to the press service of the agency, in October last year the suspect and his accomplice lured an acquaintance, a businessman, to a meeting, during which they beat him until he lost consciousness. The perpetrators then seized the businessman’s property worth a total of around 40 million tenge, before driving him outside Almaty and killing him.

One of the suspects was apprehended hot on the heels of the crime, while the other fled and was placed on an international wanted list.

In January of this year, the wanted man was detained in Azerbaijan and, at the request of the Prosecutor General’s Office, extradited to his home country.

He has now been placed in a pre-trial detention centre. For the crimes he is charged with, the suspect faces up to 20 years in prison or a life sentence with confiscation of property.

It will be recalled that earlier, employees of the Prosecutor General’s Office extradited from Dubai an accomplice of the organised criminal group Arman Dzhumageldiyev (“Wild Arman”). He is suspected of actively participating in mass riots as part of Dzhumageldiyev’s gang during the January 2022 events in Almaty.
