The Shusky District Court considered a civil case regarding a claim from the fisheries inspectorate against a local resident for compensation for material damage caused to wildlife.

According to the press service of the Zhambyl Regional Prosecutor's Office, in November last year the court found the defendant guilty of illegally acquiring and transporting 5 species of fish with a total weight of 313 kg

As a result of the illegal actions, the state suffered damage amounting to more than 2 million tenge.

"The defendant's representative did not admit the claim in the court hearing. He explained that the fish did not belong solely to citizen K. and that K. had been fishing with friends, and having not caught any fish, they purchased it from the 'D' Limited Liability Partnership," the statement said.

In the end, the court found the defendant's representative's arguments to be unfounded and ordered him to pay the state compensation for the damage caused to wildlife amounting to more than 2 million tenge and a state duty of 62 thousand tenge.

It will be recalled that in November last year, in the Abay region, a lorry with a large consignment of fish without permit documents was detained. During the inspection, law enforcement officers discovered 408 sacks of fish with a total weight of 7340.3 kg and 47 boxes of fish fillets with a total weight of 959.7 kg.
