The brother of the deceased resident of Balkhash, Meruert Aulbayeva - Aitbek, reported that the case regarding his sister's death due to doctors' negligence has been transferred to the Police Department of the Karaganda Region.
Meanwhile, according to Aulbayev, the regional prosecutor's office has promised to monitor the legality of the investigation.
For context, earlier Aitbek Aulbayev spoke about the inaction of law enforcement agencies in the case of Meruert Aulbayeva's death. The woman died from sepsis after surgery to remove her appendix.
At the time, the deceased's brother noted that an inspection by the Ministry of Health and an examination by the Ministry of Justice confirmed a link between the doctors' actions and his sister's death.
Recently, Aitbek Aulbayev visited the police department and the Prosecutor's Office of the Karaganda Region. The regional police identified negligence in the investigation conducted by their colleagues from Balkhash and stated their readiness to take the case under their control.
As Aulbayev noted, the Balkhash police three times in July ordered the same unnecessary examination, in his opinion, thereby delaying the investigation timeframe.
Regarding the visit to the regional prosecutor's office, the deceased's brother reports that the regional prosecutor personally stated a willingness to take the case to the regional level. However, the department still insists on carrying out that same examination.
"I got the impression that the prosecutor's office is trying to throw a spanner in the works of the investigation and is contributing to its maximum delay. Perhaps I am wrong, but the facts suggest otherwise. I cannot otherwise explain the regional prosecutor's office's so calm attitude towards the violation of my rights as a victim", wrote Aulbayev on his Instagram page.
For context, in July 2023, Meruert Aulbayeva repeatedly contacted the Balkhash polyclinic with complaints about her health, but she was only seen after several days, and the surgery to remove her appendix was performed only a week later, despite the ultrasound results indicating peritonitis.
According to the deceased's brother, an inspection by the Ministry of Health showed that the operation was carried out too late and incorrectly, resulting in the development of sepsis in Meruert's body, with which she lived for three months. On 6 November 2023, the woman died.
