Law enforcement officers are accused of delaying the investigation into the death of a female resident of Balkhash.

The brother of the deceased resident of Balkhash, Meruert Aulbayeva, Aitbek, spoke about the inaction of law enforcement agencies and accused the doctors of his sister's death.

According to the Telegram channel "Vlast - News of Kazakhstan", the woman died 9 months ago from sepsis after an operation to remove her appendix.

Aulbayev reported that an inspection by the Ministry of Health and an examination by the Ministry of Justice confirmed a link between the doctors' actions and his sister's death.

"My sister went to the clinic on 24 and 26 July 2023, but she was only admitted on 27 July, and the operation to remove her appendix was not performed until a week later, on 3 August, even though the ultrasound results showed she had peritonitis. After the operation, she remained in hospital until 21 August due to a high temperature, but then she was discharged, despite the fact that the temperature persisted. This was against a background of therapy – as the inspection shows, her antibiotics were changed every day without justification, and this possibly led to resistance. The inspection by the pharmaceutical control body proves that the operation was carried out late and incorrectly, making the incision in the wrong place and cleaning the wrong area. Essentially, she walked around with pus inside her from July until October", Aulbayev reported.

It has become known that on 2 October, Aulbayeva travelled to Karaganda at her own expense, where she was diagnosed with sepsis, which had arisen after the operation. According to the deceased's brother, this is confirmed by the autopsy and the comprehensive commission examination.

"The pulmonologist referred her to a surgeon, who dismissed the diagnosis and sent her back to Balkhash, although he should have referred her to the nearest hospital. On 3 October, the woman underwent surgery, but on 6 November 2023, she died", the statement reads.

At the beginning of this year, the case was reclassified under Part 3 of Article 317 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan (Improper performance of professional duties by a medical or pharmaceutical worker).

Aulbayev said that the investigation had conducted interviews, but the Balkhash prosecutor's office decided to order another examination.

"It has already been 9 months since my sister's death and a year since it all began. The police are dragging their feet and stalling this case, and the prosecutor's office is complicit in this, sending formal replies and failing to respond properly to the violation of my rights as a victim. They are not letting me see the examinations. They only act after I raise the issue on social media. In Balkhash, the case does not progress until I generate publicity. I would like to have this case transferred to the regional level", Aulbayev states.

For context, earlier the Aktobe City Court considered the case of medics who could not tell a man from a woman and caused a disabled patient to die. Ultimately, the doctors were found guilty of the patient's death and the clinic was ordered to pay financial compensation for moral damage to the deceased's family in the amount of 700 thousand tenge
