The government has decided to allocate 1 billion tenge from the Special State Fund to provide water supply to residents of the towns of Kosshy and Makinsk in the Akmola Region.
According to the department's press service, in Kosshy, 476.7 million tenge has been allocated to complete the construction of the water supply system.
"The implementation of the project will provide 100% of the population with a centralised water supply. To date, approximately 50 km of pipes have been laid. The total length of the networks will be 64.1 km", the statement said.

The facility is planned to be handed over by the end of this year. The existing engineering network is designed for 30,000 residents. Currently, more than 50,000 people are registered in Kosshy. According to the city's master plan, the number of residents could exceed 150,000 people by 2038.
In Makinsk, 606.4 million tenge has been allocated for the reconstruction of water supply networks.
"The project involves the laying of 72.7 km of networks. To date, work on 45 km has been completed using previously allocated funds", the statement said.
Overall, as of now, funds from the Special State Fund have been allocated for the implementation of around 280 projects in the areas of education, healthcare, sports, social security, and for the modernisation of communal infrastructure.
It is worth recalling that funds returned to Kazakhstan as part of the fight against the illegal removal of assets are credited to the Special State Fund, from where they are directed towards social needs, including the construction of schools, hospitals, and infrastructure modernisation.

In January, it was reported that using the returned assets, a sports complex in the village of Zhalagash in the Kegen district of the Almaty Region, worth 1.1 billion tenge, is planned for construction.

Later, it was announced that a further 1.4 billion tenge had been allocated for the construction of a school in the village of Koksay in the Kerbulak district of the Zhetysu Region.
Also, from the fund, 2.6 billion tenge was allocated for the construction of the Centre for the Provision of Special Social Services in Semey. The list of financed projects included the construction of the stadium named after Kazhymukan Munaitpasov in Astana.
