Prosecutors in the North Kazakhstan Region have launched pre-trial investigations following inspections of nurseries in the Aiyrtau District.
According to the department's press service, employees of one nursery in the district from 2021 to 2024 illegally received budget funds by falsifying the attendance of children who were not actually attending the preschool facility.
"By a verdict of the Aiyrtau District Court, the guilty party from the preschool organisation was sentenced to 3 years and 6 months of restricted freedom, with full compensation of the damage to the state budget", the statement said.
The Aiyrtau District prosecutor's office has also launched a pre-trial investigation against employees of the district's education department.
At the same time, during the inspections, prosecutors identified a number of other violations, for which they issued supervisory acts.
Recall that earlier in a preschool facility in the Aiyrtau District of the North Kazakhstan Region, embezzlement of budget funds totalling 11.2 million tenge was discovered.
Furthermore, in August last year, it was reported that the education department of the Aiyrtau District planned to purchase heating boilers at 30.7 million tenge each, for a total amount of 307.6 million tenge. However, following intervention by the Anti-Corruption Agency, changes were made to the public procurement plan, resulting in savings of 279.3 million tenge.
