In the Atyrau region, JSC "Kaspiy Neft", which is owned by the son-in-law of the former President of Kazakhstan - Timur Kulibayev, has been fined.
"It was established that JSC 'Kaspiy Neft' did not obtain a waste accumulation limit for over 4,500 tonnes of hazardous waste generated in 2021-2022 as a result of drilling and operation of the field", the regional prosecutor's office reported.
As a result, the judicial panel of the Atyrau Regional Court ordered a fine of 13,684,868,730 tenge to be collected from the company 'Kaspiy Neft'.
It will be recalled that JSC 'Kaspiy Neft' is developing the multi-layer oil and gas field Airankol in the Zhylyoi district of the Atyrau region. The owner of the entire shareholding of the oil company is JSC "Joint Resources", also owned by Kulibayev.
Earlier, it became known that in 2023, Joint Resources earned 39.2 billion tenge. Meanwhile, in 2022, the company's losses amounted to 127.6 billion tenge.
It was also reported that LLP "Joint Technologies", which is partly owned by Kulibayev, was issued two fines totalling 2 billion tenge.
