Submitted by Вера Александрова on

The governor of the Abai region, Nurlan Urankhayev, at a press conference in the Central Communications Service (CCS), outlined the measures being taken to develop the housing and communal services sector in the region.

It is reported that work is actively underway in the region on the construction, reconstruction and repair of 37.9 km of heating networks. This year, work has already been carried out on 27.5 km of networks and 17 heat sources. This has made it possible to reduce the deterioration of heating networks from 64.2% to 59.7%.

It is noted that on the right bank of the city of Semey, there remains a deficit of thermal energy amounting to 146.99 Gcal, and as a result, a decision was made on the need to build a new combined heat and power plant (CHP).

A working group is handling the project, which includes representatives from the regional akimat and Samruk-Energy JSC, as well as the designers themselves. The future CHP plant is planned to be built on the left bank of the city, in the area of the Stepnoy settlement. The location for the ash dump has also already been determined.

Furthermore, a block-modular boiler house with a capacity of 21.5 Gcal/hour is being built in the Karagaily microdistrict of Semey. Construction is planned to be completed by November of this year. It is expected that the boiler house will provide heat to social facilities and residential buildings in the new district.

In addition, work is underway in the region on the construction of water supply networks. This year, plans are to complete the implementation of 24 projects (out of 53 planned). It is anticipated that this will increase the population's access to centralised water supply to 96.6%.

As part of the Comprehensive Plan for the development of the region, the city of Semey also plans to build a modern solid municipal waste landfill with a waste sorting line. In the area of developing transport infrastructure, a project for the reconstruction of the road and cart bridge is being implemented in the city, which is expected to be completed in 2025.
