In Almaty, blogger Dariga Nurkeyeva, known by her alias ‘Daricorn’, has been held administratively liable for violating traffic rules.
According to political scientist Syrym Itkulov, reporting on his Telegram channel, Nurkeyeva demonstratively changed lanes without signalling, thereby creating a dangerous situation. She filmed the entire incident and posted it on social media.
“This is not simply irresponsibility; this is a deliberate creation of a threat to the life and health of others. It is particularly cynical that all this is done for likes and views on the internet”, Almaty police reported.
Administrative protocols have been drawn up against Nurkeyeva under Article 595, Part 1 of the Code of Administrative Offences of the Republic of Kazakhstan (“Failure to comply with the requirement to signal when changing lanes”) and Article 606, Part 1 of the Code of Administrative Offences of the Republic of Kazakhstan (“Creating a dangerous situation”).
Incidentally, this is not the first time that ‘Daricorn’’s actions have caused a public outcry. Earlier, a court ordered her to pay 500,000 tenge in compensation to the family of a 9-year-old boy whom she filmed without parental consent in an advertising video for her Qatty Tatty cafés.
The video was edited in such a way that the child’s phrase was distorted, resulting in the boy becoming the target of ridicule and bullying both at school and at his sports clubs.
The child’s mother filed a lawsuit, initially demanding 5 million tenge in compensation. The court awarded only 500,000 tenge, but the family has lodged an appeal.
The Committee for the Protection of Children’s Rights has expressed support for the victims’ side and stated it is ready to participate in defending the child’s interests in court. In turn, Nurkeyeva has filed a counterclaim against the boy’s parents.
