Fraudsters are posing as AFM employees

Submitted by Вера Александрова on

The Financial Monitoring Agency (FMA) reports cases of telephone fraud in which attackers pose as employees of the agency.

"Fraudsters, via telephone calls and messages, impersonate representatives of the FMA", the Agency's press service reported.

It has come to light that, during conversations, the criminals notify victims about supposedly suspended bank account operations due to possible signs of fraud and restrictions imposed by the FMA.

Additionally, the fraudsters ask for bank account details and data that should not be disclosed.

Subsequently, fake documents allegedly from the FMA are sent to the potential victim, which already include signatures, names, seals, and details of the state body. Meanwhile, the callers urge the victim not to inform anyone of their actions.

"The Financial Monitoring Agency officially states that it does not service individual accounts, does not conduct monetary settlements/transactions, and does not engage in activities aimed at establishing contact with individuals", the statement reads.
