A meeting was held at the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation, where plans were announced for the construction of four new reservoirs and the reconstruction of four existing ones this year.
According to the ministry's press service, construction is currently underway on the «Baidibek-ata» and «Karakuyus» reservoirs in the Turkestan region.
At the same time, a Pokatilovskoye reservoir is planned to be built in the Zhetysu region using private investment. Last year, the reconstruction of a reservoir in the Aktobe region was completed.
In addition, design and estimate documentation (DED) for the construction of 12 reservoirs is being developed in six regions. This year, reconstruction will begin on 115 canals using digitalisation elements, along with the construction of a structure to supply additional water to the Astana reservoir.
"The ministry has begun work to replace 19 pumping units and electrical equipment on the K. Satpayev Canal. Contracts have been signed for the supply of 17 transformers, and 9 units of associated equipment have been purchased. To improve the material and technical base of the «Kazvodkhoz» branches, with the support of the Government, work has begun on the acquisition of 757 units of special equipment and vehicles. To date, 150 units of special equipment have been accepted by the «Kazvodkhoz» branches, and under the investment programme, an additional 23 units of special equipment have been purchased", the statement reads.
Overall, by the end of this year, the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation plans to complete 12 projects for the construction of group water supply systems. It is expected that this will provide high-quality drinking water to 153 villages with a total population of 423 thousand people. A further 52 settlements are planned to be connected to the centralised water supply system.
