A photo of former Almaty mayor Bauyrzhan Baibek in Japan is circulating online.
As the administrators of the Instagram page "Bakordamems" suggested, Baibek travelled there to see the Japanese national tradition of flower viewing.
"Former Almaty mayor Baibek is currently in Japan. He came to see the cherry blossoms. Keeping you updated," the message reads.
It is worth recalling that after the January events, Bauyrzhan Baibek lost his government posts and stopped appearing in public.
From August 2009 to January 2013, he was Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration. From January 2013 to August 2015, he was First Deputy Chairman of the Nur Otan party. From August 2015 to June 2019, Baibek served as the Mayor of Almaty.
