Information has emerged online about the detention of the former head of an Almaty colony, Colonel of Justice Bekzat Akimbay. According to some reports, he is suspected of corruption.
As reported by the Telegram channel «ZTB NEWS», Akimbay at the time of his detention was still the head of the colony of the Department of the Penal Enforcement System (DPES) of Almaty.
In turn, Informburo.kz, citing the Committee of the Penal Enforcement System (CPES) reports that this individual was not an employee of the internal affairs bodies at the time of his detention.
«A pre-trial investigation is being conducted against him by the competent authorities. We adhere to a policy of zero tolerance for any offences and provide comprehensive assistance to the authorities conducting the investigation», the statement reads.
