On 4th June, a tragedy occurred in the village of Zhympity, Syrym District, West Kazakhstan Region — five children from the same family died in a house fire.

According to the publication "My City", the regional health department of West Kazakhstan Region reported that children aged between one and six were brought to the district hospital unconscious. Despite the doctors' efforts, they could not be saved — the children died without regaining consciousness. The presumed cause of death was carbon monoxide poisoning.

According to the Emergency Situations Department, a report of the fire in a private house was received around 15:00. Rescuers arrived at the scene within 5 minutes.

"Upon arrival, personal belongings and furniture were burning with open flames over an area of 30 square metres. Rescuers found five children in an unconscious state. Unfortunately, the children died in hospital. The fire has been fully extinguished," the department reported.

It is noted that the children were home alone — their parents were at work. The family lived in rented accommodation. Meanwhile, the police have opened a criminal investigation into the deaths of the children.

"In connection with the deaths of minors following a fire in a private house in the village of Zhympity, the police have opened a criminal case. The preliminary cause of death is carbon monoxide poisoning. All circumstances of the incident will be established as part of the investigation," the police press service stated.
