The Karaganda central processing plant was fined after complaints from residents of one of the city districts to the ecology department.

According to Informburo.kz, in windy weather, residents of the private sector in the Tekhbaza area were struggling to breathe due to dust. Following their complaint, environmental inspectors identified that the «Lad-Comir» enterprise had exceeded carbon oxide emissions.

Additionally, a crushing and sorting unit was operating on the factory premises without an environmental permit or assessment. The company moved the equipment used for coal processing further away from residential buildings.

«Instead of the required one thousand square metres, the warehouse area is 15,000 square metres, meaning an excess of 15 times. An administrative protocol has been drawn up for this violation. The fine amounts to approximately 43 million tenge», commented the state environmental inspector of the Karaganda region, Aim Mukasheva.

Recall that in September, environmental prosecutors in Aktobe fined «Voskhod Chrome» LLP more than 2.9 billion tenge for violations during the processing of chromium ore in the Khromtau district of the Aktobe region. Throughout 2022, the enterprise operated without a mandatory environmental permit.

Later, Aktobe activist Murat Zhakiev tried to hold accountable those enterprises that have been polluting the city territory for many years. At the same time, Zhakiev stated that the state rate for payments for harmful substance emissions into the environment and storage of industrial waste is extremely low.

In early October, in the Almaty region, residents of six villages asked authorities to stop the company Block One Company, which was trying to reopen the Chinasyl-Sai mine, closed in the last century. They believe that the gold miners' work could lead to pollution of the river, which provides drinking water for 50 thousand residents.
