A major Kazakh manufacturer and distributor of medical equipment, the company Ordamed, was producing equipment for magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and radiography without a licence.
According to Bes.media, this was reported by the acting chair of the pharmaceutical control committee, Almagul Kenzhekhanova. She stated that the company’s current registration certificate for medical devices had been suspended.
“It has been suspended for six months under the administrative code. During this period, the company must make corrections. As of today, the National Centre for Expertise (the expert organisation) has submitted requests on 18 points, and some adjustments are being made. Violations were identified related to the lack of a licence for the production of ionising medical devices. This category includes X-ray equipment, MRI, and so on”, she said.
For context, in May, companies such as KFK Medservice Plus LLP, Akniyet LLP, and Stopharm LLP were held administratively liable for participating in a cartel agreement during the procurement of medicine transportation and storage services. The procurement was carried out by SK-Pharmacy LLP.
In July, serious corruption risks were identified in the activities of SK-Pharmacy LLP, hindering the supply of medicines and medical devices to the population.
