In Shymkent, a sharp rise in the price of beef is being recorded — a kilogram of fillet is being sold for 5,000 tenge, although a week ago the price was 4,200 tenge.
According to Informburo.kz, sellers claim that the cost of meat is rising due to a shortage of producers, expensive feed and significant export volumes. Local residents admit that they cannot give up the product and are forced to cut back on other expenses.
Experts link the price increase to the intense heatwave, which destroyed fodder crops. According to their estimates, by autumn meat will become even more expensive, and following Shymkent, prices could also rise in other regions of Kazakhstan.
For his part, agricultural expert Kirill Pavlov notes that the southern regions have been left without their own feed, and transporting it from other regions is too expensive. According to specialists, without changes in approaches to forming the feed base, the situation could worsen in 2026.
Recall that in January, residents of Shymkent also complained about a sharp jump in meat prices. At that time, the cost of lamb and beef increased by 500 tenge. Residents reported that in December they bought beef for 2,700 tenge, and in January already for 3,200 tenge.
