Artificial intelligence (AI) is being planned for deployment to assist local mayors in addressing social issues in the regions.
According to Informburo.kz, this initiative is to be introduced as part of the "Digital Family Card" project.
Minister of Labour and Social Protection of the Population Svetlana Zhakupova stated that data on more than 6 million families has already been entered into this programme.
"Information and appeals from citizens are combined into a large database. Based on this, artificial intelligence provides analytics on what social problems exist in the regions. In addition, AI can propose solutions to mayors," the statement says.
In turn, Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov gave recommendations to mayors on the use of AI.
"It will be necessary to send up-to-date information on a weekly basis in automatic mode. Every mayor should open and see at their workplace where and what problems they have. This is the direct benefit of using AI; you can analyse this manually yourself, but that takes resources and time. AI speeds this up; it is called 'intelligence' for a reason – it is like a 'person', but it analyses data quickly," noted Bektenov.
It is worth recalling that in early February this year, at an expanded government meeting, President Tokayev instructed the implementation of the AI Development Concept in Kazakhstan.
In July, the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan adopted a strategic document on the implementation of artificial intelligence technology in various sectors of the economy. According to experts, the use of artificial intelligence could increase global GDP by 14% by 2030.
At the same time, the government identified priority sectors of the economy for the implementation of AI. Namely, public administration, subjects of natural monopolies in the oil and gas, mining, energy, transport, logistics, water supply, and agricultural industries.
