The former first vice-minister for emergency situations Ibrahim Kulshimbayev has been convicted of abuse of power.
According to Informburo.kz, this was announced at a briefing at the Anti-Corruption Service by the agency's official representative, Daniyar Bigaidarov. It is reported that Kulshimbayev, exceeding his authority, forced subordinates to build his own house.
"He was found guilty of abuse of power by giving illegal instructions to the management of subordinate institutions of the Ministry of Emergency Situations to involve military personnel and special equipment in the construction of his private house", the agency explained.
As a result, the court sentenced Ibrahim Kulshimbayev to 5 years' imprisonment. He was also banned for life from holding positions in the civil service and in entities of the quasi-public sector.
At the same time, the court ruled to submit a proposal to the President to strip Kulshimbayev of his rank of major general.
