The chief accountant of Almaty City Polyclinic No. 30 has been convicted of embezzling 340,387,113 tenge. Alongside her, the polyclinic's payroll accountant also found herself in the dock.

According to the court press service, the chief accountant and the payroll accountant, from June 2019 to November 2023, calculated salaries and bonuses for card accounts of individuals who were not actually working at the polyclinic. It is reported that the defendants fully admitted their guilt.

Ultimately, the court found the chief accountant guilty and sentenced her to 7 years and 6 months in prison. The payroll accountant was sentenced to 7 years in prison.

Both were banned from engaging in activities involving financial responsibility for five years.

Earlier, we reported that a doctor from the capital's medical centre, Makishev, was convicted of accepting a bribe of 500,000 tenge. The medical centre doctor received the illegal remuneration from a patient for performing a routine surgical operation.

Furthermore, earlier this year, it was reported that Anti-Corruption Service employees in the Aktobe Region detained the chief physician of the multidisciplinary regional hospital, Yerzhan Uzganov, on suspicion of corruption. The detainee admitted his guilt and agreed to cooperate with the investigation.
