Employees of the Committee for Railways and Water Transport of the Ministry of Transport identified 284 violations in more than 20 socially significant passenger trains operating on routes including Astana-Almaty, Kyzylorda-Petropavlovsk, Astana-Shymkent, Kyzylorda-Pavlodar, Kyzylorda-Kokshetau, Almaty-Zhezkazgan, Almaty-Saratov and others.
According to the ministry’s press service, the trains revealed non-compliance with standards for the interior and exterior appearance of passenger carriages, a lack of air conditioning and facilities for people with reduced mobility, failure to maintain sanitary and technical conditions, and other issues.
It is reported that the total amount of fines exceeded 10 million tenge.
“Fines have been imposed on both the national carrier and private carriers. Carriers have been instructed to take measures within 10 calendar days to address the violations identified during the inspection and to prevent their recurrence,” the statement said.
It is noted that the country operates 110 regular socially significant passenger trains. By the end of the summer, committee employees plan to inspect the remaining passenger trains.
Recall that earlier, JSC “Passenger Transport”, which is a subsidiary of JSC “NC “Kazakhstan Temir Zholy”, inspected the trains of the company’s northern branch. The inspection revealed that the cleaning company provided poor-quality services on trains operating to Pavlodar, Astana, Karaganda, Petropavlovsk, Kokshetau, Kostanay and other destinations. Among other things, the audit uncovered instances of document forgery.
