The prosecutor's office of Rudny city inspected the activities of the State Public Utility Enterprise "Children's Educational and Health Complex". The audit established a case of embezzlement of funds on an especially large scale.
As reported by the prosecutor's office of Kostanay region, a pre-trial investigation was conducted under Article 189, Part 4 (Misappropriation or embezzlement of entrusted property).
It was established that an employee of the children's complex over the period of 2022–2023 misappropriated over 18 million tenge, which were intended for the purchase of vouchers to children's health centres.
The relevant criminal case has already been sent to court.
For context, in May it became known that the heads of nurseries in the capital and the director of a partnership were sentenced to 3 and 4 years of imprisonment respectively.
The heads submitted requests for food products which they did not purchase, and also issued falsified documents.
The funds stolen in this way were subsequently transferred to the account of the partnership's director. The amount of damage amounted to 35 million tenge.
The court of appeal agreed to replace the custodial sentence for the heads with a restriction of liberty, considering a number of mitigating circumstances in their cases. However, the verdict regarding the director of the LLP was left unchanged.
