In Almaty, a man has been detained who, according to the investigation, posed as a public activist and demanded money from entrepreneurs. If they refused, he threatened to report them to government bodies.
HOW THE SUSPECT OPERATED
According to the Telegram channel “HALYQSTAN”, a criminal case into extortion is being investigated by police officers of the Auezov district. According to preliminary data, the man systematically approached individuals engaged in entrepreneurial activity and demanded money from them.
Head of the Auezov district police department Daniyar Mendebayev said that the suspect posed as a public activist. If refused, he referred to the possibility of contacting government bodies and creating obstacles to the entrepreneurs’ further work.
WHAT THE POLICE ESTABLISHED
Law enforcement officers have already identified several people who reported similar circumstances. The police believe that other entrepreneurs may also have suffered from the suspect’s actions. Citizens who have encountered similar demands for money or threats to report them to government bodies are asked to contact the internal affairs authorities.
The detained man is Saken Abilov. He has been placed in a temporary detention facility (IVS).
