Artificial intelligence (AI) is being introduced into the state apparatus as part of the Digital Qazaqstan strategy. According to Vice-Minister of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development Bakhtiyar Mukhametkaliyev, the technology should improve the efficiency of work processes, while the question of its impact on individual professions remains relevant.
WHY AI IS BEING INTRODUCED INTO THE STATE APPARATUS
According to BES.media, at a press conference held by the Government on the implementation of the nationwide Digital Qazaqstan strategy, Bakhtiyar Mukhametkaliyev stated that the main objective of introducing AI remains improving the efficiency of processes.
According to him, a separate area of digital transformation provides for the introduction of AI into the state apparatus. The target efficiency indicator for processes is up to 30%.
"There is no task here of any kind of replacement; the task is to strengthen efficiency. But it is clear that not only the artificial intelligence technology itself, but the introduction of AI in general, will affect certain professions," said Bakhtiyar Mukhametkaliyev.
HOW AI IS ALREADY BEING USED IN THE MINISTRY
At the Ministry of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development, the technology is being used in a pilot mode. AI helps prepare draft responses and quickly find the necessary information.
At the same time, the final work of civil servants with such information is retained.
"Into artificial intelligence, the same ChatGPT, you can upload a huge list of information, and it will prepare a brief summary for you. But the introduction of artificial intelligence into the state apparatus has its own peculiarities. After all, this is work with sensitive information from the point of view of ensuring information security," noted the vice-minister.
WHY INFORMATION SECURITY IS IMPORTANT
The vice-minister separately noted that the use of AI in the state apparatus differs from its use in ordinary work processes. Civil servants work with sensitive information, so when introducing the technology, information security requirements must be taken into account.
According to Mukhametkaliyev, the time freed up thanks to automation will allow employees to direct it to other priority tasks. At the same time, the materials provided do not specify which processes in the state apparatus are planned to be automated first.
WHAT WAS SAID ABOUT AI'S IMPACT ON PROFESSIONS
Bakhtiyar Mukhametkaliyev emphasised that there is no task of replacing civil servants with artificial intelligence. At the same time, he noted that the development of AI in general may affect certain professions and the structure of labour.
